Picky City Guide: Weekend in Montreal

Lifestyle / Travel

A quick weekend in Montreal didn't leave that much time for trying a lot of restaurants but here are some top picks from places I did get a chance to visit...

Nora Gray

This gorgeous, intimate restaurant has been listed as one of Canada's top restaurants. The mid century decor, retro bar and warm low light create the perfect atmostohere for dinner in the city. The staff was very knowledgable and accommodating to allergies and plant based options. The green salad with pistachios was delicious and they always have one main course on the menu that is plant based. Currently it is the crispy eggplant steak with lentil bolognese - hearty and warm this dish will not disappoint. noragray.com

Olive and Gourmando - Old Montreal

Mtlthevegansandwich

A great spot to stop for lunch in Old Montreal. The place is packed! You can sit in or take out but be prepared to wait! I suggest putting your name in and then going for a walk to check out a couple art galleries.

There are plenty of healthy options and everything is freshly made. As shown in the picture, I ordered "The Vegan" sandwich - shocking I know ;-) and it was delicious. It had a spicy chickpea patty, pickled turnup, spinach, beets and some sort of yummy creamy sauce. oliveetgourmando.com

Terrasse Nelligan - Old Montreal

Mtlwineatnelligan

Terrasse Nelligan is the rooftop patio of Hotel Nelligan in Old Montreal. It is open May to September - weather permitting and if you happen to be there during those gorgeous summer months you should definitely go! Its north side faces historic St. Paul Street and a close up view of the Notre-Dame Basilica. The south side  has a panoramic view of Old Port. It’s the perfect spot to spend a summer night. The menu has lots of plant based and healthy options including appetizers, salads, pastas and wraps. And of course there's wine! hotelnelligan.com

Leaves Cafe is a vegan coffee and tea cafe located close to St. Catherines St. They made me an amazing matcha latte and they had delicious plant based and gluten free treats including chocolate chip banana bread, cupcakes and yes even croissants! It is cute and bright and the prefect spot to take a break from shopping! leavescafe.com

The ultimate gourmet salad spot! You can have them make you a custom salad from a huge selection of greens, veggies and protein options or pick one of the creations from their menu. Kale, quinoa and chickpeas? Oh yes! There were a lot of healthy options and the salad was huge... Just the way I like it. They also have adorable bowls! There are three locations - I visited the one on Crescent and my salad was awesome! mandys.ca
