Two Quick and Easy Fitness Apps

Lifestyle / Wellness

Fitting a workout in your busy schedule can be a challenge - I get it. Carving out time to go to the gym or a one hour class doesn't always feel possible and if you live in a Northern climate this time of year, getting into your cold car isn't exactly motivating...

When I'm crunched for time I turn to my favourite fitness apps - I get a great workout no matter how little time I have and do it from the comfort of my home with basically no equipment.

As a side note - I do feel there is a place for a group class - it provides a sense of community and you usually work harder in a group - however a home workout is better than no workout!

Whether you have 10 minutes or 60 minutes and no matter what your level - these apps have a workout that will get you moving...

This app offers a variety of effective workouts and all you need are your running shoes! You can choose cardio or strength training and even an upper or lower body focus. The exercises are shown by a human video so you can easily see what to do. You can pick your time (starting as little as 5 minutes - perfect for a quick afternoon pick me up!) You can pay for premium workouts but I simply use the basic workouts for free! This is a great way to get a good workout quick and easy! https://sworkit.com

I use this app practically everyday. Its main focus is yoga but there are also a variety of pilates and fitness classes. You can choose from literally thousands of videos - from beginner to advanced and from 15 minutes to over an hour. You can even choose what type of yoga you would like or if there is a body area you want to focus on. Once you like a video, you can save it to your personal playlist so it is easy to find next time. There are series such as 'Yoga Everyday' that has a new 15 minute practice every day. There are also some wonderful meditation guides. You do have to pay for this one - it is about $10 a month but I feel it is definitely worth it. Grab your mat and do a little yoga anytime...for energy first thing in the morning or to calm down before bed. https://www.gaia.com/yoga
