With the changing seasons we often need a little something extra and this simple Immune Boost Smoothie fits the bill. It is a delicious, creamy drink that is absolutely full of super power ingredients to beef (wow I don't use that word very often ;-) up your immune system and keep you healthy...
Ginger - antiviral, antibacterial & anti-parasitic
Coconut Yogurt - gut healthy probiotics
Pumpkin Seeds - full of immune boosting zinc, clean protein and fibre
Raw Honey - naturally antibacterial, adaptogenic & full of minerals
Turmeric - inflammation & disease fighter
Cinnamon - so many antioxidants, so little time
Mango - tons of vitamins C & A + they uplift your mood and help alleviate SAD (seasonal affective disorder)
Almond Milk - because dairy = inflammation, acidity & mucus (gross, I know)
This smoothie is a perfect breakfast (you can up the protein by adding a couple tablespoons of rolled oats or a scoop of protein powder) or an afternoon snack. Its even great as 'dessert' since mango and honey can also aid in good sleep.
You can add a scoop of plant based protein powder or 2 tablespoons of rolled oats for more protein and to make it more of a meal.
Feel free to sub in any plant based milk or yogurt you have on hand or enjoy. Try to always use unsweetened to avoid unnecessary sugars.
Always use raw honey as it still has all its healthy properties. Conventional honey has been processed and heated and many of its health benefits have been stripped away.
Place all ingredients in the order they are listed in a high speed blender and blend until creamy and smooth.
