The sweetness of dark chocolate combined with the tartness of cranberry gives these energy bites the perfect touch of holiday flavour. 

This easy, one bowl recipe takes about 10 minutes to make. After that you put them in the fridge and you are done — making it simple for you to eat healthy even during this busy time of year. 

The pumpkin seeds are full of immune boosting zinc, the hemp seeds are a complete protein and contain a good source of magnesium for healthy digestion and balancing hormones. Oats are an amazing source of fibre and the almond butter is a good source of protein and iron plus vitamin E for gorgeous holiday skin!

Energy bites are the perfect healthy snack to take on the go during this busy season while you are out shopping or travelling. They are also great to snack on before going to a party to keep you from being starving when you get there and over eating.

They look beautiful dusted with a little icing sugar and served with desserts and cookies or keep a stash in the fridge for when you are craving a something sweet...



makes about 16 bites

  • 1 cup gluten free rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons of hemp seeds
  • 1/4 cup vegan dark chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup raw pumpkin seeds
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup creamy almond butter
  • 1/3 cup brown rice syrup

Tips & Nutrition

You can make these nut free by substituting sunflower seed butter for the almond butter. You can also use chia seeds instead of hemp seeds. 

Brown rice syrup is a natural sweetener made from brown rice. You can find in most health food stores and even some grocery stores in the baking section. 


In a large mixing bowl combine oats, hemp seeds, dark chocolate chips, pumpkin seeds and cinnamon. Stir until all ingredients are well mixed. Add in the almond butter and brown rice syrup and stir well until it looks like a "dough". It will be tough to mix. 

Roll the dough into 1 inch size balls. The dough will be sticky, if you wet your hands a bit with warm water it will make the dough easier to handle. Place the balls on a plate and refrigerate for 30 minutes. 

The bites can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days and in the freezer for up to month.
