I love a fresh burst of orange in the morning - however conventional orange juice is full of sugar without fibre, elevating your blood sugar more quickly than the whole fruit. Often when a fruit is juiced many of the vitamins and nutrients are lost. A better way to get all the juicy goodness from an orange is to actually eat the whole fruit. When you do this you are getting the nutrients with the fibre which helps moderate your blood sugar levels as well as giving you all the health benefits the orange has to offer.
This smoothie uses the whole orange, some mango as well as ginger and cinnamon - both are amazing for digestion. The hemp seeds add clean protein, healthy fats and magnesium - all great energy boosters for your morning!
I don't drink this smoothie as a meal but rather as an addition to a light breakfast - maybe with a piece of sprouted grain bread with almond butter or berries with coconut yogurt. Its perfect with a couple energy bites if you are taking breakfast to go...
