Is there anything better than freshly made guac?

The creamy avocado, the refreshing cilantro, the bite of onion all mixed with a zest of lime - totally food heaven! And even better it is so so so good for you...

Avocados are full of healthy fats and are amazing for your heart, skin and brain. Mixed with onion and cilantro that is cleansing for your liver - and a touch of cumin which is an antioxidant - you have a great party food that is super nutritious! I like it as a dip with gluten free bean chips but its also delicious with cut up veggies like red peppers and celery.


  • 3 ripe avocados
  • juice from 1 lime
  • 1/2 cup fresh chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 red onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp of cumin
  • salt and pepper
  • GF Black Bean chips, for serving

Tips & Nutrition

To keep your guacamole looking fresh while it is in the fridge or for the next day save the avocado pits and put them back in the guacamole - this will help limit the oxidization (turning brown).

Put some on your sprouted or GF toast the next morning for a little SouthWestern style breakfast!


Halve the avocados lengthwise and scoop out the flesh, discarding the pit (or keep the pit for saving the guacamole for later in the fridge). Place the avocados in a bowl and mash with a fork until mashed and just slightly lumpy. Add the lime juice, cilantro, red onion, tomato, cumin and garlic. Mix well. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve immediately with black bean chips.
