The green smoothie.
It has become the poster child for healthy eating! And for good reason - it is easy to make, portable and packed with nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants.
Blending your greens is a great way to get a lot of them without eating a huge salad. When you blend them, the nutrients get released and they are more readily and easily absorbed by your body. Adding some fruit to the greens gives you extra fibre and sweetens the taste.
Of the millions of smoothie recipes out there, this one is my fav. I like to use unsweetened oat milk to keep the sugar content low. Feel free to add in some plant based protein powder if you like or change out the fruit if you prefer raspberries or cherries.
Kale is full of antioxidants, calcium and vitamins A and C. It supports your heart, circulation and your lungs.
The blueberries are full of antioxidants and fibre. The banana has potassium and gives the smoothie a creamy texture.
Feel free to sub in different seeds like flax, chia or pumpkin seeds or mix of all of them!
Blend all ingredients together in a high speed blender until smooth.
